Why buy trees that are grown under license to Koanga?
When you buy a fruit tree from a licensed Koanga Institute grower, you are supporting the ongoing work that we do to save and preserve our heritage fruit trees, seeds and other rare plant material. We are a registered charitable trust, in recognition of the years of work that has gone into collecting and maintaining our collection of New Zealand Heritage fruit trees and plant material. You can also be assured that the tree is from a line that is specifically adapted to the area as described - this is especially important for gardeners in the North, as many trees are not well suited to the climate and produce poorly. The good news is that trees adapted for hotter climates further north will do even better when grown further south. Ensure that the heritage fruit trees and seeds that you buy are grown by a licensed Koanga grower. Our growers are paid fairly for their trees, and a small percentage from each sale goes back to the Institute to enable our work to continue. Thanks for your support!
