Pea - Mangetout(Pisum sativum )NZ HeritageA pea from the Henry Harrington collection but originally from the Maire Tidy collection in Te Anau. Maire was a healer of some repute and she had a collection of her favourite nutritious vegetables of which there are now several in our collection.This pea grows to 1m tall and bears two tome purple flowers followed by sweet peas that are eaten pod and all. I prefer them lightly cooked but they are nice and sweet raw as well. |
