This cultivar has been grown for many years in Kaitaia, where the family who grew it ate it at the fresh shell stage..called edamame…when the estrogen levels are lower than in the dried beans .., cooked in the pods in salty water, and then popped out and eaten as a snack. It is a small cream coloured bean when dry
