Island Bay Italian Tomato(Lycopersicon lycopersicum )NZ HeritageWendy Evans, one of our seed curators sent this tomato in. She says it was kept for years by the Italian families of Island Bay in the Wellington area, most of whom came over n the 1920's amd 30's.They were from Stromboli and were fisherman and they came here to fish in Cook Straight.It is an outstanding large even sized very red fruit with very full flavour great for both eating and processing. Very healthy bushes. |
