Fred's Dwarf: dwarf; green snap

(Phaseolus vulgaris )

NZ Heritage

This bean came to our collection from Chris Piper of Auckland Auckland but it had been grown for many years before that in Christchurch by Chris’s father. It is a stunning bean, flat green with a curly tail and lots of deep purple steaks on the pods. They are a very tasty, but must be eaten when young to avoid the strings and toughness. It is a great early season bean to grow under a cloche, also as a late cloche bean. (20)
