Macrocarpa Worm Farm or small Compost BinWe have developed a very simple worm farm, made from quality macrocarpa timber. These are sent flat packed, ready to assemble. They consist of 4 wooden layers that are easily stacked on top of each other as needed and removed as needed. We have been using a similar worm farm here for our office paper waste and other organic scraps for over 20 years. You can not collect the vermiliquid from these worm farms, (it will run under the farm to fertilise whatever tree you have the worm farm under! ) just the vermicast which we find the most useful. They are easy to shift to a new site (new tree) and begin again as they fill. These worm farms come flat packed - ready for assembly. All you'll need is a screwdriver. These can also be used for small compost bins, perfect for kitchen scraps - just make sure you add plenty of carbon material, such as dried plant matter, and add some microbes and minerals to get a healthy population of microbes, which will greatly benefit your soil. Dimensions when assembled: 510mm wide, and 4 layers 510mm wide, x 150mm high. (600mm high) with a lid 570mm square. |
