Seed Saving for the Valerianaceae Family

Corn salad plants form bluish - white flowers with the nset of warm weather. the flowers quickly form seeds which drop when mature and self-sow. The plants are so small and go to seed so early that warm season crops can be planted among the maturing corn salad plants without difficulty.
When the plants begin to dry, carefully collect the entire plant in a pillowcase. shake the plants to free as many seeds as possible and then remove the seeds from the bag. the plants can be leftin te bag to dry a bit further and the process can be repeated. dry the seeds out of direct sunlight for several days and winnow to remove small peices of debris.
