Thank you for contacting us regarding old tree material you know about or hold. It is the Kaupapa of the Koanga Institute to collect, save and make available to the public as many of our old trees and seeds as possible.
To enable us to do this in an intelligent way we need to collect from you as much information as possible before we begin a process of trying to propagate the trees. Once we have looked at the information you have provided we will contact you.

If you are offering us wood to grow into a tree for our selection block please note that we are only able to trial trees suited to our bio-region. They therefore need to come from the warmer areas of NZ.
Please note that if you have a tree that we decide to add to our collection we will do our best to propagate another for you free of charge.
If you want a tree or trees grown for yourself, then we will pass your request to Benji from Forgotten Fruits Nursery to deal with. Whether he is able to will depend on the availability of rootstocks and time etc so he will contact you. Any trees especially grown for you with your own bud or graft wood cost us far more to grow than those we are contract growing so the cost to you reflects this. Each tree propagated to your specifications will be $35:00 including gst.

1. We would much prefer samples of the fruit to taste first. It is possible we already have the tree. Every tree we add to our selection block requires many years of looking after – a big investment not taken lightly.
