It is with great pleasure we can tell you that we have begun the process of building a new seed storage room for our precious seeds. They are being stored in a room on the end of the shop building in very unsatisfactory conditions.

I’ve been concerned about that for a long time and decided this past summer ('06-'07) to use the skills of Daniel Keisgen, a German friend of ours who is an earth builder and who was visiting for the summer. Daniel and Matt King did the hard work of putting up the structure and the walls ,earth and pumice, designed to keep the room cool and low humidity, as far as possible in this climate without being on the grid.

This summer (07 - 08) we need to plaster the walls. We’ll probably be organising working bees to finish the woodwork and get it up and running so keep an eye out if you're interested in helping out. It has been built in the Mother Seed garden where the community can keep a close eye on it and it feels great, a very special place and the seed room will be a special room.

We need lots of support to get this finished and would love to hear from you if you can offer timber suitable for shelving, or if you have carpentry skills and would like to help with the finishing of it. We would love to be able to put our seed harvest in there next season.
