  • Collect seed catalogues and inspirational books so you can dream about next season’s garden.
  • Great time to do some learning so you keep getting things better and better.
  • Spend time on fine days just looking around the garden, observing and remembering what worked, what didn’t, what changes you may like to make.
  • If you haven’t already got them, draw up some blanks of maps of your garden beds so you can more easily plan next season’s garden.

  • Leave well mulched for Winter. 

Temperate Forest Garden

  • Low root activity now.
  • Good time to check all tree labels.
  • Plant your fruit trees.
  • Be sure to do the best possible job of planting your trees, how you plant them will determine how much fruit they produce over their lifetime. See our Kōanga Planting Guide and also our Fruit Tree Health Guide.
  • Apply tree paste to trunk structure to feed trees.
