Education
As part of our kaupapa to encourage and support sustainable living in NZ, we organise Events, Workshops Permaculture Design Courses, and Diploma programs. These are at the leading edge in the art and science of sustainable living, and are part of the emergence of a 'post-industrial' culture which creates abundance and works with 'nature'.
All workshops will be held on our new land 15 minutes north of Wairoa.
Workshops for Self Reliance
The Koanga Institute is actively pursuing and accumulating the knowledge and skills required to live sustainably, and we are committed to sharing with others that which we find valuable through our workshops, apprenticeship and diploma program. Click Here to read our current workshop program.
Koanga Institute Diploma Program
The Koanga Institute Diploma Program began in April of 2011. At present we have apprentices in Nutrient Dense Food Production and Low Tech Building and Appropriate Technology.
For 2012, We will be offering Diplomas in Permaculture Design, Sustainable Nutrient Dense Food Production, Sustainable Small Farming, and Low Tech Building and Appropriate Technology Click Here to read more.
Apprentices
We are open for applications for our 2012 Apprentice Program. Please note that in 2012, we will be giving priority to apprentices who wish to complete our Diploma program. Click Here to read more about the Apprenticeship Program.
Internships
We are now accepting interns for this summer (2011-12). These intern positions will be focused on high quality seed production for the Koanga Institute. Applications close 30 September 2011. Click here for more info...
Publications
The Koanga Institute regularly publishes research in the form of booklets and guide books. At present the "Grow Nutrient Dense Food" booklet or the "Save your own Seed" booklet is given free to all new Institute Members, and is also available in our store. The Koanga Garden Guide, Design your Own Orchard, and Change of Heart - are essential guides for sustainable living and share over 30 years of research and experience.
The sharing of knowledge within our communities is an important step towards a more sustainable way of living. The Koanga Institute offers sponsored places at our workshops for young people and community leaders who will take the skills and knowledge and share it with others. If you would like to nominate someone for a sponsored place at one of our workshops, please contact us with details of your nominee, and their role within the community. We also offer you the possibility of donating money towards sponsoring a places at workshops, please contact us for further details.
Please note: workshops will be confirmed 2 weeks prior to commencement. If circumstances prevent us the workshop from going ahead, enrolment fees will be refunded in full.
Cancellation Policy: Students who canel their place at a workshop with more than 2 weeks notice will be given an 85% refund, however cancellations after this time can only be refunded 50% of the course fee. Cancellations with less than 48 hours, no refund can be given.
