Directions to the Koanga Institute

Koanga is based at Kotare Village in the Hawkes Bay of New Zealand.  Our address is:

From the South (via Napier, State Hightway 2 [map with directions]):

Stay on the main road into Wairoa, cross the river and follow the signs towards Frasertown. About 8km from Wairoa, just before you arrive into Frasertown, turn right onto Tiniroto Road (it's marked with a green highway sign). About 15km farther, immediately before a two lane bridge, you will see a sign post for Kotare Road (a small gravel road on the right). We are the first house you can see on the road, about 1km down on the right. There is a Koanga sign on the gate, drive in and park next to the big farm house near the other cars.

From the North (via Gisborne, State Highway 2 [map with directions]):

Take State Highway 2 to Wairoa. Stay on the main road into Wairoa and follow the signs towards Frasertown. Alternatively you can take Tiniroto Road from Gisborne. Turn off State Highway 2 onto Tiniroto Road and head south for approximately 70km. Immediately after a two lane bridge, you will see a sign post for Kotare Road (a small gravel road on the left). We are the first house you will see on the road, about 1km down on the right. There is a Koanga sign on the gate, drive in and park next to the big farm house near the other cars.
