First came onto the market in 1902, British standard potato for a very long time. Oval kidney shape, often tapering. Skin smooth, white splashed pink. Eyes shallow. Flesh white, sprouts pink. The King Edward is a late maincrop producing moderate yields with high numbers of tubers per plant. It has a good resistance to slugs and bruising. It is moderately susceptible to drought, and has good cooking quality, flavour and frying colour.... good boiling chipping mashing frying
